Robert Keating and Peter Eidenberg finished the year strong with a defense verdict following a week-long trial in Benton County. The lawsuit against a general surgeon and a third-year surgical resident alleged negligent performance of a femoral hernia repair, and failure to obtain informed consent as to the procedure and the extent of the resident’s participation. Scott O’Donnell Obtains Defense Verdict in Medical Malpractice Trial
Scott O’Donnell recently obtained a defense verdict in a medical malpractice trial in Multnomah County Circuit Court before Judge Angel Lopez. The case involved an alleged delay in diagnosing a deep tissue infection, requiring five surgeries to debride dead tissue. Plaintiff sought 2.5 million dollars in damages.

On November 13th, 2019, a Clark County jury returned a defense verdict in a week long medical negligence trial. Attorney Scott O’Donnell represented several physicians in the suit where plaintiffs sought over $500,000 in economic and non-economic damages. KJH Welcomes New Associate Trent Andreasen
We are pleased to welcome our newest associate, Trent Andreasen. Trent’s practice focuses on defending doctors, nurses and hospitals in medical malpractice litigation and appeals. Trent received a BS in Political Science from the University of Oregon. Following graduation he worked in the file room at KJH where he became fascinated by the practice of law and litigation. Attorney Kelly Huedepohl Wins Argument Denying Certification of a Class Action
Attorneys Kelly Heudepohl and Peter Eidenberg successfully defended an attempted effort to certify a class action against one of their clients related to alleged FDCPA violations. The argument was in the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon. Kelly Huedepohl argued the matter and successfully persuaded the court that the claims alleged did not support certification of a potentially significant class against their client. Attorney Peter Eidenberg Obtains Dismissal of Client in a Medical Malpractice Trial
Congratulations to Peter Eidenberg and Dale Fujimoto on a recent trial victory in Coos County. They defended the hospital in a multi-party emergency department case involving a patient who was discharged with a kidney stone and returned to the hospital three days later in septic shock. The plaintiff sought $525,000 in economic damages and $1,200,000 in non-economic damages. After a week of trial, the plaintiff dismissed Peter Eidenberg’s client the day before the case went to the jury, and attempted to proceed against the remaining defendants. Happy Retirement to Rhonda Ensley! Today was Rhonda Ensley’s last day at Keating Jones Hughes. Rhonda joined the KJH team in 2015, after a long career as a Legal Assistant. In her retirement Rhonda plans to enjoy gardening and volunteering in the neighborhood elementary school as a reading assistant with the SMART Reading program. We celebrated Rhonda with a tasty luncheon and rousing game of Giant Jenga! Congratulations Rhonda!
