Peter Tuenge and Carolyn Pearson Obtain Directed Verdict in Multnomah County in a $3.5 million Dental Malpractice Trial
Shareholder Peter Tuenge, and associate attorney Carolyn Pearson, obtained a directed verdict on behalf of their client, a local dentist, on July 19, 2022. The plaintiff sought $3.5 million in damages, alleging that the defendant caused her to suffer significant jaw problems after he performed surgery on her upper jaw. In addition, plaintiff alleged the defendant caused the need for two subsequent surgeries on her temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and a permanent soft-chew diet. The defense team put on a case built upon the testimony of the leading national expert on TMJ surgery as well as a nationally recognized oral surgeon. After a 7-day jury trial, the court granted a directed verdict in favor of the defense.
